US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Jamieson Greer as the next United States Trade Representative.

Greer has experience in this office, having served as chief of staff during the first Trump administration under Ambassador Robert Lighthizer, the former head of the Trade Representative. During that period, Greer played a key role in the negotiations of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and in the implementation of tariffs on approximately $370.000 billion worth of Chinese imports.

In his announcement, Trump expressed confidence that Greer will play a crucial role in reducing the country's trade deficit and protecting the interests of American industry, agriculture and services.

It is important to mention that, as Trade Representative, Greer will be responsible for implementing the new tariff policies that Trump has announced against countries such as Mexico, Canada and China.
