US lawmakers demand new investigation into illegal Chinese trade practices

The leaders from the House Committee of Representatives on the Chinese Communist Party have requested a New investigation into China's alleged violations of U.S. trade laws, including the use of third countries to evade tariffs.

In a letter sent on March 5 to Commercial Representative, Jamieson Greer, the panel leaders urged additional measures to strengthen trade rules enforcement and address unfair practices in China.

In particular, the legislators request that the The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) initiates an investigation under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, the same mechanism that former President Donald Trump used in his first term to impose tariffs on China.
